Cogeneration Electricity Production

How is Cogeneration Electricity Produced?

The bioethanol production process requires a certain amount of heat for the fermentation, distillation and drying processes. This heat is produced by an external source of energy, usually natural gas. The excess heat produced, which would largely be lost, is captured and sent to the cogeneration plant, converting the remaining thermal energy into electrical energy.

This electrical energy has a renewable character when it is produced from the heat loss fraction and is sold in the market.
